Malbec de Purcari is based on an originally French grape variety that is now mainly grown in Argentina. In 1853, the Argentine government commissioned the French agronomist Michel Pouget to select French grape varieties to acclimatize in Argentina. Surprisingly, the Malbec variety adapted very well in all regions where it was grown.
